A New Winter Adventure Awaits

Tired of the same old skating rinks?

If you’re looking for something different from the usual rink experience, the ice skating trail at Port Credit Memorial Park delivers just that. Unlike traditional rinks, this 220-metre-long, 3.5-metre-wide trail winds through a beautifully designed path surrounded by stunning natural terrain. It’s the perfect destination to glide under the open skies while taking in the splendour of the great outdoors.

It’s not just about skating — it’s about the experience. This unique setup allows you to connect with nature while staying active during the colder months. It’s the perfect mix of exercise, relaxation, and a bit of festive magic.

Where to Find the Trail

You’ll find this new skating gem in Mississauga’s Port Credit Memorial Park, just east of the Credit River and a few kilometres from Lorne Park. Known for its community feel and picturesque surroundings, the park has long been a beloved spot for residents and visitors alike with its playground, picnic spaces, skate park, basketball nets, and walking trails. Now, with the addition of the skating trail, it’s becoming a premier must-visit destination for endless winter fun.

What Makes This Trail Special?

One of the standout features of the new ice skating trail is its design. The path's winding layout makes it feel like you’re gliding through a winter wonderland. The natural surroundings add a peaceful charm, turning every lap into a picture-perfect moment.

Unlike crowded, fast-paced rinks, this trail gives you the freedom to skate at your own pace — ideal for those who want a mix of exercise and relaxation. You can skate along, taking breaks to admire the scenery and snapping a few photos. It’s also an excellent alternative for skaters who find traditional rinks too competitive.

Skating for All Ages and Skill Levels

The new skating trail welcomes everyone, regardless of age or experience level. Whether you’re teaching young children how to skate, joining friends for a casual outing, or practicing your technique solo, the trail accommodates all skill levels.

Beginners will appreciate the gentle layout of the trail, which allows for slow and steady skating. Meanwhile, more experienced skaters can pick up the pace and enjoy the long stretches of ice to really glide. If you’re looking for a spot to improve your skills without feeling rushed, this trail is perfect.

What to Know Before You Go

Beginning December 2, the ice skating trail at Port Credit Memorial Park is open daily during the winter season, weather permitting. Before you head out, check for updates to make sure the ice conditions are good to go. Typical operating hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with holiday hours as follows:

  • Christmas Eve: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Christmas Day: Noon to 6 p.m.
  • New Year’s Eve: 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • New Year’s Day: Noon to 8 p.m.

Tips for a Great Skating Experience

A little prep can turn a good day on the ice into a great one. Here’s how to make the most of your skating experience:

  • Dress in Layers: You’ll warm up as you skate, so it’s helpful to dress in layers that you can remove as needed. Don’t forget gloves and a hat to stay cozy.

  • Wear Proper Skates: Nothing ruins a skating session faster than uncomfortable skates. Make sure your skates are cozy and fit well without pinching. If your skates feel too tight or too loose, they can affect your balance and overall experience.

  • Check the Weather: Ice quality depends on the weather, so double-check for trail updates before heading out.

  • Take Breaks: Skating can be tiring, especially if you’re not used to it. Take breaks as needed and enjoy the scenery around the trail.

  • Bring a Thermos: A hot drink, like cocoa or tea, can make your outing even more enjoyable. Pack a thermos to sip on during breaks.

Make the Most of Your Winter Season

Let’s face it — winter can feel long and dull if you don’t have something to look forward to. That’s why the skating trail is such a game-changer. It’s a chance to shake off the winter blues, get outside, and have some fun. Whether you’re gliding solo, skating with friends, or teaching little ones how to balance, the trail is all about creating moments that feel special. It’s active, relaxing, and just plain fun — exactly what winter should be.

This winter, why not try something new? Lace up your skates and head to Port Credit Memorial Park for a refreshing, one-of-a-kind experience. Make this winter one to remember!
